For most of us, the word Hygge is associated with fall and winter seasons as we make pictures in our mind getting cozy under a warm blanket with a cup of hot drink and a good book while it’s freezing outside.
But have you thought about how we could Hygge in summer? You can still add lots of coziness and enjoy the simple things in warm days. Hygge is all about making each moment special and feeling cozy whether alone or with friends and it shouldn’t be left just for the cold weather. Let’s get introduced to ways on how to add Hygge to your summer.
Berry picking is an extremely lovely way to spend some time in nature. Get lost in the woods picking wild berries or find a berry farm that offers visitors to pick their own berries. Usually, these farms ask very little money for this. Or maybe you have a grandmother who has a little garden and you could make a surprise by visiting her. I’m sure you’ll agree that grandmother's berries are usually the sweetest.
There are many ways to use picked summer sweets. If you’ve picked too much to eat them fresh and you don’t want them to rotten, bake a seasonal berry cake from one of the many recipes online, freeze the berries to make delicious smoothies after or make your favorite jam out of them. Berry picking is a beautiful way to enjoy the little summer pleasures.
Never miss a chance to go on a picnic in the summertime. It’s a wonderful way to spend quality time with your family and friends outdoors. To make it more Hygge style, really think about the location. Find a place away from the crowds and with a beautiful view, whether it’s in your garden, near the lake or at the beach. Make It as cozy as possible - bring your chunky knit blanket, throw pillows and everything that seems to be soft and fluffy. Bring enough so everyone is comfy and enjoys long conversations. Make these summer Hygge moments extra special with instant photo films. Also, don’t forget about some healthy snacks and summer lemonade.
Whether it’s with a tent or in a cabin, camping can be a truly amazing experience. Hygge is all about these special moments for yourself and there is no better way to do it than spending time in nature. Slow down with your friends or do a solo camping with comforting food, beautiful hikes, and with wonderful music from nature. You don’t always have to look far to go camping, find the one that seems the most suitable for you and do it. Declutter your mind from thoughts and enjoy the beauty of mother nature.
There’s nothing better than simple life pleasures like coffee. While in winter you would crawl under multiple layers and light a fire with a cup of coffee in your hands - in the summertime, it’s all about going outdoors. Take your favorite mug, get some coffee, and go in nature. Go to your closest park if you’re in the city, go in the garden if you have one, or take the coffee with you while going on a hike. If it’s extra hot outside nothing beats an iced coffee or cold brew at a coffee shop. This can become one of your favorite mini routines.
Food and drinks are an integral part of Hygge lifestyle. It’s about selecting the best ingredients and sharing them with others. There is no better way to find those ingredients than to go to a farmer's market. Farmer's markets are great for the wide access to fresh, locally grown food and their fruits and vegetables at the peak of the growing season. It’s also a good way to support local farmers and keep the money to nearby businesses.
These were a few ideas on how to cozy up the summer season. I hope this inspired you to bring the Hygge concept to your summer and take the time to enjoy the small comforts in a cozy and relaxing way. Remember that Hygge is not about the things, but the moments.

In this information age, there’re so many tutorials out there on how to knit a chunky blanket. Here’s a step by step guide to making your very own DIY chunky blanket in a super-easy way.
One of the most important things for making the DIY chunky knit blanket is to have a good quality chunky yarn.
Purchase the chunky knit yarn in our shop. We sell high-quality extra-fine merino wool. Our yarn is super thick, chunky and perfect for knitting DIY chunky blankets. Read more about why choose our wool over the others in our blog post "Why choose Wool Art products".
You may also probably wonder about how much wool you need for a chunky blanket. To make it easier for you, we have created an easy cheat-sheet, that you can find in this post.

After unwrapping your yarn, so now it's now time to make your first stitch. First of all, you should know that most DIY chunky knit blankets are made by arm knitting. If you've never done arm knitting before, don't worry, that's what this guide is for.
To start with your first stitches, you'll only need your arms, chunky yarn and a bit of patience.
Unroll the yarn on the floor so you have a pile of wool in front of you. This will ensure that the thread pulls easily and you'll have more focus on the knitting process itself.
Unlike the standard knitting, where you have to cast on the stitches for the starting row, we'll give you an ingenious tip, that will give your blanket shape and make it look much neater. Instead of casting on the stitches, start crocheting the simplest crochet chain.
The length of the crocheted chain will be the width of your blanket. The last loop of the unfinished chain will be your first right side stitch. After you have crocheted the needed length chain, you can now knit the actual stitches that will form the blanket.
Tip! Crochet the chain more freely than too tight. If it's too tight, then the specific part of the blanket will tighten too much and will contrast the rest sides of the blanket. If you make the crochet chain too loose, you can always tighten it with the loose end.
[banner]
Turn the crocheted chain to the side where you can easily see small loops in the middle part of the chain - they will become the other stitches. Leave the side stitch/last chain loop on its own for now and start pulling the long thread to the left side through each one of the chain loops forming a row of separate stitches.
After ending your first stitches row, you should easily get an idea of how it works.
After you have your first row done, without turning your knitting, start coming back - from the left side to the right side, pulling the long thread through each one of the first row stitches.
Tip! Remember that the side stitches need to be knitted only one time per row. End the row with knitting the last stitch and start the row with knitting the second stitch.
Repeat making the stitches row by row, creating the length of the blanket. Count the stitches for every row as you knit, it'll help you to stay focused and not miss a stitch.
Time to time check if your stitches are the same size. If they're not - don't worry, because the practice will make it perfect soon.
Tip! To make the knitting even, use your hand as a measuring tool - pull each one stitch on your hand, so the stitches are all the same size.
Now that your blanket is done, what's next? To finish off, you'll need to bind off your chunky blanket. For the beginners, we suggest binding off from the right side, as it's easier. Make the last row by knitting the stitches from left to right and you can start to bind off. Do you remember the tip about not knitting the side stitches twice? Now you can and should do it. Knit an extra right-side stitch for the last row - it'll form a shape to the blanket corner.
Now take the working yarn and pull it through two right-side stitches at a time. This should leave you with one stitch on hand only. Leave that one stitch in hand, take the next one free stitch and put it on hand so you again have two stitches. Pull the working yarn through both stitches so you again are left with one stitch only. Repeat this process until all the stitches are finished and you're left with one stitch on your hand.
Cut the thread so you have around 8 inches of tail. Insert the tail inside the stitch and pull it tightly.
Tip! Don't pull the working yarn through the stitches too tight nor too loose - try to pull it through naturally so the top of the blanket is well-shaped.
As much as it's okay to leave the tail ends of your blanket hanging, you can choose to weave them through the holes of the chunky blanket. This gives your blanket a neater finish.
While weaving the top tail, try to stick more to the top of the blanket - it'll make the thread more unnoticeable. Do the same also with the first row's tail, which was left when you started to knit the blanket - try to stick and weave the tail more to the first row's bottom.
Now take the blanket in your both hands and shake it well. It'll even the stitches and the rows, and will give the finishing shape.
And there, you've your very own DIY chunky knit blanket!
The life-changing bonus tip! What can be more annoying than to run out of yarn before finishing the blanket? Don't worry! Instead of making huge knots in the middle of your blanket, you can just felt the two ends of the yarn threads together. You can find the felting needles in your nearest hobby shop.

Now that you've learned this super chunky knit blanket pattern, there are some tips you need to know to ensure the quality of your product.
I know some tutorials promise you that you'll be able to make a DIY chunky knit blanket in less than an hour. However, for most people, especially beginners, it takes longer. It took happyhappy nester five hours the first she attempted to knit a chunky blanket.
Don't worry. You'll get faster with time. I recommend looking for a friend to pursue this project with you. Making a whole event of it will make it so much fun that you won't even notice the amount of time which has passed.
This is quite obvious. Your sleeves will interfere with the knitting process and ultimately make you slower.
During the knitting process, you should occasionally tug at the blanket to ensure it doesn't bunch up. You will also need to tug and stretch the final product.
If you feel exhausted, you can stop and take a break from knitting. Yes, you don't have to do it all in one go. After a relaxing break with a coffee cup or tea mug in your hands, you'll feel full of energy and ready to knit again.

Hand knitting is not the only way to make a chunky blanket. Here are other methods you can employ.
This method involves knitting with giant knitting needles. These needles are usually made of wood. There are two types of giant needles. One type is the one where two needles are long and separated from each other. This type of needles is suitable for knitting smaller items like scarves, hats, sweaters or pet rugs. mia beach has some cute jumbo giant knitting needles for this purpose.
The other type of needles are a bit shorter and they're connected with a long wire. These needles are suitable for knitting the chunky blankets. The long wire between the needles holds the blanket together and the stitches stay in the place.
Although the needles look quite cool and quirky, you may discover that knitting with your hands only is the easiest option.
Another way how to knit the blanket is for your arms to perform the function of the knitting needles. So instead of putting the stitches on the needles, you put all the stitches on your hand one by one.
Interestingly, knitting is not the only way to make a chunky blanket. Crocheting is another way. The super-chunky crotchet blanket can be made by using your hand/arm or using large crochet hooks.
A tutorial for making your very own chunky crochet blanket is available from Makeit & Love it. Whether you choose to knit or crochet your blanket, the results are similar since they are made from the same material. The only difference is the technique.
While some swear that crocheting is faster and easier to learn, long-time knitters vehemently disagree. However, there are a few true things. First of all, crocheting produces a heavier, more stretchy blanket than knitting.
Additionally, crocheting takes more yarn than knitting. Ultimately, whatever method you choose is up to you.
Merino wool is a delicate material, so only dry cleaning is recommended. However it's also heat-resistant, so you can iron it at a high temperature if needed.
As merino wool is naturally antibacterial, there's usually no need for extra cleaning. If something spills on the blanket, you can gently remove the dirt with your hands or use a damp cloth.
Let's be honest - it takes some time for beginners to get the hang of knitting. This is especially true for arm knitting. However, when you have the right material and get used to the arm knitting, you'll realise that knitting is a very rewarding craft.
This DIY chunky knit blanket will be just a beginning of your knitting journey. It'll be fun to make the chunky knits for yourself and it'll be even a bigger joy to delight your friends and family with wonderful chunky knit gifts.

]]>For your DIY chunky knit project you'll really need the chunky knit yarn only! There are no knitting needles required for making a beautiful and neat blanket.

The easiest way to chunky knit is by placing all of the stitches on your arms. This option is great for smaller size blankets, which require less stitches. Knitting on your arms will be perfect for blankets in a width up to 40 inches (100 cm). Knitting on your arms will ensure that you'll miss no stitch and that no stitch will get twisted. The arms will also make the stitches even and accurate as they all will be formed in the size of your arm.
Comparing to knitting with the needles, this option will allow you to work with the yarn more easily, more flowing, and ensure that the thread will not accidentally split, which is a common case, when knitting also with a standard thickness yarns.
The other option on chunky knitting without any needles is by putting the knit on a flat surface - table or floor. This option will be good for larger size blankets. In this case, the stitches will stay off all the time, and it's okay, they'll stay like this on their own when put aside. The stitches are created with a help of a palm - the palm works as a measuring tool to ensure that the stitches are even.
Comparing to knitting with the needles, this option will be physically easier when knitting larger size blankets. With the needles you would have to turn the whole blanket over after each row, however, in this case, the blanket doesn't change the position, which is way more easier. It also allows you to keep an eye on how the blanket pattern will look when it's finished, since you'll see the right side of the knit all the time.
Each of the two described options are fun and easy. Whichever you choose, we hope that this information will help you with your DIY chunky knit project and that you'll have a beautiful, neat, warm, and super cozy DIY chunky knit blanket.

Let's start knitting!

1. Unroll the yarn before knitting. Unrolling the yarn will help you to work with the yarn more easily in the process.
2. Crochet a braid. The braid will be a base of your first row and will also make the width of the blanket.
3. Slightly pull loops in the middle part of the braid with your fingers.
4. Create the first row stitches using the loops. Create stitches all the way to the end of the braid - this will be your first row of the blanket.
5. Keep the knit in the same position and start the second row. Create the stitches, using the first row stitches. Every first side stitch on both sides, the left and the right, stays unknitted - this will make nice and even sides for the blanket.
6. Continue knitting back and forth. Remember not to knit the every first stitch.
7. Measure the blanket length from time to time. Knit until you have knitted the needed length. We recommend knitting the last row to the right and then start finishing off the blanket. Knit and extra last stitch for a more firm corner.
8. Finish off the blanket by uniting together all two stitches into one. Hold one stitch in your right hand, pull the loose end through the neighboring stitch, which is to the left, and also through the stitch in your right hand. Repeat this until you're at the left side of the blanket and with one stitch in your hand. Cut the thread and pull the thread end through the last stitch.
9. Shake the blanket very well. The shaking will make stitches more even. You can also adjust the stitches with your hands if needed.
10. Hide the loose thread ends. Weave the loose ends through the stitches so the end of the thread stays on the other side of the blanket. Fix the thread end with a felting tool. Now your blanket is ready.
Bonus tip! Whenever you need to join together two ends, use the felting needles. This way the joined part will look smooth and unnoticable.

]]>If you have tried merino wool chunky knit yarn already, then it's time to introduce the new option for chunky yarn - cotton tube yarn. Both yarns have their advantages. You can read about the merino wool benefits here. In this article, however, we'll tell you more about the cotton tube yarn advantages.
Cotton tube yarn was first introduced as an option for those, who love chunky knits, however, prefer non-animal products. It's a perfect option for vegans. Later this yarn was highly appreciated among people with small kids, pets, sensitive skin, and those, who prefer products that are easy to take care of.
[banner]
The cotton tube yarn has a very simple composition. The outside part of the yarn is cotton, and the inside part is filled with polyester. The cotton is strong, durable, and gentle. The polyester is puffy, retains its structure, and provides chunkiness. These two materials combined is a perfect combination that provides comfort and looks.
The cotton tube yarn is created from a woven cotton fabric outside part. The outside part of the yarn is completely weaved all around the thread, which means that there are no seams along the thread. This provides a smooth and neat look for the thread in all its length. Inside of the thread is filled with special long polyester fibers. The long polyester fibers ensure that the thread is even and doesn't have any clumps along the thread.
The cotton tube yarn and products created from it have many benefits.

We have already discussed this in the benefits chapter, however, to emphasize the great quality of cotton tube yarn one more time - it can be machine washed. It means that it's very, very easy to keep the product always clean, which is very important if you have pets, kids, or someone with allergies in the family.
While we're huge fans of the chunky merino wool, we think that the cotton tube yarn is also a very great and innovative product to try out. Whether you choose a ready-made product or the DIY cotton tube yarn, we're sure you'll enjoy how beautiful and neat this material is.
If you already have tried the cotton tube yarn or its products, leave a comment for this article with your experience. If you have tried both - merino wool and cotton tube yarn - let us know which one you like best!

The candles will not only have a beautiful flame to look at, but they'll also give you a warm feeling. They will, in fact, give an actual warmth even from such a small flame. There are many options for candles these days, however, we prefer natural candles, which are free from chemicals. A good option is natural soy wax candles. They are usually white color and a slight, pleasant scent. The best option is the bees wax candles. They're yellow color, with a very lovely smell, much brighter and warmer flame than other candles, and they burn for a longer period. Bees wax candles are also the only candles that purify air and improve its quality. They're also hypoallergenic, so they're suitable for everyone and are completely worry-free.

]]>You have tried ditching plastic bags, bottles and coffee cups and now looking for a next step on how to create a more eco-friendly home? Perfect. We’ve got some ideas on what to buy, change or do to make your house more greener. Remember that it’s not about doing all of the ideas right now. It’s ok to slowly introduce them in your life step by step.
Many of the items found at your home can be replaced with an alternative which is reusable and more eco-friendly. Just like you stopped using plastic water bottles, you can stop using other products. For example, you can change your disposable razor to a stainless steel razor, your plastic toothbrush to a bamboo one, plastic food wraps to wax wraps, bottled shampoo and soap bottles to shampoo and soap bars, plastic straws to stainless steel ones, plastic bags with reusable grocery bags. Can you see now how much more there is to improve? While it takes time to switch to alternatives, it will actually save you some money over time, because a lot of these products will last longer - meaning you will have to buy less.
How using rugs is related to having an eco-friendly home? It’s actually very simple and you wished you have known that sooner. It is to be more energy efficient and keep more heat in the house. This one is more for winter, but can also be a useful thing during those chilly summer nights. A good choice of a rug is a chunky knit rug made from 100% merino wool, which is extra warm. You can be sure that everybody will want to hang out on it. Place it in the bedroom, living room, bathroom or even kitchen to make the room warmer and more beautiful.
It’s a hard no for conventional dry cleaners to be used in a eco-friendly home. Have you tried making your own cleaning products with natural ingredients? The most basic thing you can start with is using vinegar and water for cleaning. For harder cleaning - baking soda is a great option. If you want to have a little more scent in the cleaner - you can make your own by adding some citruses or essential oils. DIY cleaners are not only natural, but are much more safer to use.
The furniture industry is extremely wasteful. By buying second hand furniture you can lower your carbon footprint and reduce waste. It’s a way to reduce demand for new resources. Second-hand doesn’t necessarily mean old. You can actually find high quality and fresh furniture for very good prices. Sometimes you can even find unique pieces that has a great story.
Most likely, not everything for your home will come from second hand stores. When you do get new products such as bathroom towels, bed linens, kitchenware, bathroom products etc., make sure to check the brand you’re buying from. Check the material it is made from - the more natural the fabric, the better. Make sure the product description is clear and specific, check for certifications, check for transparency, etc. Also, it’s always more eco-friendly to support small businesses than large companies.
You can’t truly call your home an eco-friendly, if the air in the house is smelly or toxic. You should definitely think about having at least a couple of house plants in each room. The plants improve the air quality by absorbing toxins and producing oxygen. They are known for boosting the mood, reducing noise and being therapeutic. If you google it, I’m sure you’ll find many more benefits of why you should have them.
These are some of the tips that will bring you closer to creating an eco-friendly home. But don’t forget to celebrate each step you take. Like this one - you’re already making a step closer by educating yourself and thinking of ways to improve your life and the planet.

Boho decorating ideas for the home

]]>What is boho style? Boho style comes all the way back from the 1800s and is being associated with artists, writers, travelers, and hippies. This style represents the unconventional lifestyle, where individuality and freedom are highly valued. How does this look in the interior? Think of colorful furniture, combining objects, wall decors, and different patterns.
Are you ready for ideas and tips on how to bring a bohemian vibe into your home?
When it comes to boho style, wall decors are essential. Bring some texture to your walls with cozy decors such as woven wall hangings, macrame hangings, or boho styled prints. It’s best if the wall decor is made out of natural material like merino wool or brings a touch of nature into space.
You don’t have to limit yourself by just hanging wall art. Any natural accessories like hats, woven plates, feathers, and even plant hangers will give a nice variety for your walls. When it comes to things like boho wall art - make sure to add plenty.
Continuing with “more is more” mindset - you can never have enough plants in bohemian style home. Add a jungle vibe at your own home with your favorite plants. Whether they’re potted or hanging, they will definitely brighten and freshen up the room. You can even make a DIY indoor plant wall. A great tip about having many plants at home is that you get to have different textures and materials with your planters. It’s a great way to make the room even more attractive and homey.
Decorating on a budget? Then visiting a thrift store is a must. It’s a great place where people donate things that are in great condition and where you can find many boho style decors for your home. Some of the best and unique items to look for when going thrift shopping are woven baskets, lamps, dishware, linens, frames, vintage art, and wood decor. Be ready to spend a great deal of time in the store, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for something special like unique vintage items. Mixing vintage accessories and furniture into your home is one of the most boho things you can do.
Cozy rugs are trendy when it comes to boho styled home. The combination of different textiles and colors will bring an artistic and appealing look to your room. Choose rugs that are made from natural material like chunky knit rug or jute, sisal or seagrass rugs. They are super easy to care for and are eco-friendly. The natural tones and earthy texture makes them versatile and suitable for any room whether it’s a bedroom, living room, kitchen, or bathroom.
Don’t just stick to one overhead lighting source. In a bohemian style home, you want to have multiple different types of lighting such as table lamps, floor lamps, candles, and string lights. You want to create your boho room with an ambient light that is welcoming and calm, especially in the cozy areas like the couch and bed. With just the lighting you’re able to make significant changes in your room and bring a more laid back and relaxed vibe.
When decorating in a boho style it’s best to avoid dark and heavy furniture. Boho is about bringing happiness and bright colors to your room. Make it more fun by choosing bright and colorful furniture like a blush pink vintage sofa or turquoise chair. Boho is not perfect, so don’t be afraid of mixing and matching bold furniture as long as everything looks like you want it.
Boho style is really about bringing together everything that you love in your house - full of culture, art, and different items that you’re just passionate about. It’s all about a relaxed and laid back vibe, where you can truly feel like home being surrounded by nature and all the things that make you happy. In a bohemian style, there are no two rooms that look completely alike, so have fun decorating!

]]>The time when you have a newborn baby is magical, but also very short. Therefore, you want to catch those wonderful moments with beautiful photography. While some of us hire a baby photographer, some of us are excited to capture these precious moments themselves, therefore we'd love to share 7 creative ideas on how to take beautiful images of your own baby. In addition to that, you'll get some tips to keep in mind when trying your hand at newborn photography.
Yes, yes, all of baby outfits are cute, so this is an easy one for you. Just try experimenting more with the newborn clothing and accessories, for example, dress him or her in trendy baby overalls or wear a hat or an adorable headpiece. Put the baby in a crib or on a blanket and take photos from above.
Tip: Keep the baby happy. Before the photoshoot, make sure the baby is warm and with a full belly. While taking photos, you can try playing soothing sounds in the background.
Want cozy images with your baby? Use a soft chunky knit baby nest and get some amazing photos. You can also match the baby's outfit with the baby nest or add a beautiful toy.
Tip: Lighting is everything. Make sure the baby nest is placed in a spot with good natural lighting.
You don't want to miss capturing the sweet tiny details that make each baby different. The tiny toes and fingers, the chubby little chin, the blush pink lips - all the little details that you'll not want to forget about your baby. Those details will change so fast as your baby grows and this is a great way to keep those memories.
Tip: Take creative close up photos from different angles and perspectives using a macro lens (if you have one).
If it's spring or summer, find a flower meadow or just a beautiful corner in the garden. Bring some cozy baby blankets, throw pillows or a baby nest and get creative. If it's the cold season, find a beautiful wall and take photos with the baby stroller and some closeup photos with the baby's face. Nature provides us with new opportunities and creative freedom to photoshoot the baby.
Tip: Make the baby's safety number one priority. If shooting outside, it's best to ask someone to come along with you.
If you have other children, ask them to join in your photoshoot. It will make the photos more dynamic and exciting. Simply ask them to lie down next to the baby or hold brother/sister if they're capable of doing that. Children are natural, so you don't have to worry about them posing. Everything they'll do is going to be just perfect. Plus, you'll have the sweetest photos in the world with all your kids together.
Tip: Print the photos and put them on the wall.
Whether it be your husband, children or your friend - give them your camera and get in the photo. Pick someone you feel comfortable around and pick a natural pose while holding the baby. How adorable is a happy and loving mom with her newborn?
Tip: Before the photoshoot search for natural poses with a newborn on Pinterest and have an idea of how you want the photos to look. But make sure to be flexible if a pose is not working for you.
The very best photos are usually the ones that are not planned. Make sure to keep your camera or phone around and when you find your baby in a cute pose, snuggling with daddy or playing with siblings - capture it. These will be the photos that are real and give the most rewarding feeling.
Tip: Make an album of everyday life with the new baby.
Newborn photoshoot might be challenging, but be patient and take it slow - the photos will come out just adorable. Your photos will become very special memories of the time, which will fly away so fast. And remember, the photos don't have to be perfect - just try to enjoy time with the baby and capture the precious moments just as they are.

]]>When you get a pet dog you submit yourself to be the guardian who thinks about all the dog care that comes with owning one. Its food, general health, sanitary, and comfort is now your duty. Providing suitable bedding also is the foremost task you have to get done with as soon as the dog starts living with you. But many times people have a hard time choosing and deciding the best for their baby. We get it, thinking about the betterment of a kid does incite anxiety, and however, it is manageable since we are trying to sort that out for you -which one is the best bed for your dog? Have a look!
A mattress is what gives your dog the best sleep not just because it's soft but because it helps maintain an optimum sleep position. The elasticity of a mattress provides a dog to fit-in perfectly which ensures the best relief from pressure points of body weight, preventing unhealthy sleeping places. Since many elderly and infirmly dogs develop back and joint problems as they age; a mattress with a plush on the lying area is what considered to be the orthopedic specialist which not only serves the purpose i.e. helps the dog to keep its back straight but also has a non-slip base which maintains the bed's position while your fur baby is asleep!
A basket being mostly made of plastic is still considered to be comfortable because of the way it comes out. One of the best features has to be its slip-resistant bottoms- making it sure that your beloved remains uninterrupted in sleep. Another best feature of the basket is that it comes with aerated bottom for ventilation so that your pet will feel comfortable at the same time its smell won't be trapped inside the basket, since nobody likes to sleep in unpleasant odors. However, this bed can be made even more comfortable by adding any sort of a cushion inside. Being round in the shape; baskets are what give huge dogs a great curve which not only helps in better sleep but allows releasing its muscle tension.
Elevated beds can also make their way into most comfortable beddings because of how handy the function of elevation gets. Since these are great to serve outside, not only does it have a dog to be with its family on a nice day when all of them sit outside but also keeps the pet off of hard, damp, and insect-infected surfaces. Infections like itchy/flaky patches that affect your dog's skin when it's exposed to bare grass or land outside or even just mosquito bites are all swiftly avoided when the bed doesn't have direct contact to the earth. Plus how bougie your dog will look!
This simple bedding is super comfortable for your dog to stretch out, de-stress itself and be snuggly. Pillow is a simple way to get a super bed for the healthier dogs since most of the time dog owners don't want to co-sleep with the pet because of the exposure to allergies coming with direct animal contact. Thus, a cushion makes a perfect option for your dog to have a separate bed. Moreover, dogs' cushion comes with an extra-strong fabric which can be used by the dogs with very sharp claws- thus providing the comfort that is needed.
Cushions are most handy because you can just add absorbent pads inside the covers. Dogs who wet the bed, are sick and geriatric can benefit from washable & disposable pads. It provides extra comfort to your baby and the poor soul doesn't have to care about being sick when it sleeps.
Merino wool pet mats are great to serve the dog in unpleasant weather. The soft lying surface saves the dog from a cold and hard floor. Blankets are suitable for allergies like runny eyes and nose, sneezing, and chronic ear infections in cold weather.
Unlike a floor, a bed will keep your dog warm, support arthritic joints and prevent calluses.
Dog's beds are not too hard to provide, it can be something as subtle as a pillow which was resting on your porch all along. However your selection of the dog's bed is based on a budget which you can alter according to your feasibility and your dog's health; above mentioned are the few ideas which were numbered according to the purpose its manufacturing serves- comfort wise as well as medically since your pet's health needs to be pampered just as much as yours does, so don't hesitate to choose the best!

]]>Why everyone loves farmhouse so much? Because it creates a feeling of simplicity and coziness while bringing us back to times when we used to have or visit a family farmhouse. People choose to make a home in this style to always have this homey, uncluttered, and timeless feeling. Perhaps this style reminds of simpler times before the internet became such a big part of our lives.
While some assume farmhouse style is outdated, we’re going to prove this country living inspired style is still in fashion. Read about tips and ideas on how to decorate your home in a modern farmhouse style by achieving the perfect balance between nostalgic comfort and modern feel.
Source: unknown
In a modern farmhouse style, the main colors to use are a combination of white, wood, earthy colors (beige, grey, cream, etc.) and black which adds a modern flair. To pull off the style, the painting color palette should be full of cool and warm neutrals that work well with a variety of textures. It’s all about making the contrast of lighter and darker elements to create visual depth. What it means is that you should mix the crisp colors with neutral tones and find the perfect balance.
Cozy elements are an important part of any home, especially if it’s decorated in a modern farmhouse style. If it’s a living room, think about creating a cozy corner for reading – add your favorite books, candle holders, some flowers, a lap blanket, and some cozy throw pillows. If it’s the bedroom, create a hygge feel with a large and cozy chunky knit blanket. The throw will make the look extra chic and farmhouse style. As the bed is the central piece of the bedroom, then you should consider investing in beautiful bedding. A good choice for the farmhouse style is linen ruffle bedding or waffle bedding.
Don’t be afraid to mix different textiles of cozy elements. Include textiles that remind you of the houses of our ancestors – wool blankets, cotton tablecloths, multicolored rugs, etc.
Modern farmhouse style is about achieving the sweet spot between antique and modern. Mix and match elements of rustic pieces with modern contemporary. Look for antique pieces with a story like bookshelves, dressers, doors, and vintage accessories. One of the farmhouse trends is a woven basket, which you can use as birch log holder or a plant pot. Combine the rustic elements with modern and clean-lined pieces like a contemporary round mirror, a sofa, or a stylish stand lamp. Don’t forget about white wood paneling, warm wood furniture, a beautiful farm table, black details, neat lines, and beautiful indoor plants.
If you want to achieve a real farmhouse look – remember to include industrial elements. What comes to your mind when imagining a barn or a factory? Include things like brick walls, metal lights, chalkboard, or even industrial bed frame. Try to use organic materials like stone, wood, rattan, and others.
Accessories are essential when decorating yet it’s easy to overdo with too many. Stick to a few well planned industrial elements.
When talking about a modern twist of old furniture – imagine taking rustic furniture and simply making it more modern by painting, polishing, or modifying. Some great examples are a rustic stand lamp painted in crisp black color, an old dresser polished and painted in white with black handles, an old barn bathtub modified into a modern one, or colored black barn sliding doors. This way you’ll not only have a modern twist but have some very unique furniture around the house.
The key element to achieve a modern farmhouse look is comfort. The place should be inviting and homey. Nothing should be too delicate to touch.
I hope this proved that you can still pull off modern farmhouse style and you’re inspired to bring some of these hygge elements into your home.

How not to get lost in the wide offer of chunky knit wool?
First, you're probably confused by the wide chunky yarn offer in the market - you've seen cheap yarn and expensive yarn, natural yarn, and synthetic yarn, thick yarn and not that thick yarn. And, on top of that, there's also a wide range of colors and even mixtures of different colors.
To be short and simple, because we want to keep it easy for you, in your very first DIY chunky knit project you will want to focus on the quality of the material. It's an old truth that bad instruments can spoil even the most gifted artist's work. So instead of searching for lower price wool material, we encourage you to choose high-quality wool so your first chunky knit project is full of fun and you enjoy the whole process and result.
We have tried different wool materials and what we discovered is that pure merino wool is the best one. The colors on this material look rich and saturated and it also feels smooth and silky against the skin. You'll see how easily it flows through your arms.
Read more about the importance of wool quality in our blog post Why choose Wool Art products?.
Visit our shop's Yarn section to purchase the merino chunky yarn we mentioned in this blog.
How much yarn do you need?
The amount of wool you need for your chunky knit blanket depends on how big you want your DIY chunky blanket to be and which wool you choose. Ok, we know that this wasn't the answer you wanted to get, so we have created a very simple formula for you that will help you to calculate the needed wool quantity. It's based on the wool type we use and which you can find here.
Before we explain the formula, it's additionally important to know that the needed wool quantity also depends on your knitting pattern and density. As each person has it's own handwriting, each knitter has it's own knitting manner.
For those who like knitting densely, we suggest choosing a slightly more quantity of wool than indicated in our formula. For those, who knit loose, it's very possible that after the blanket is finished, they will remain with some extra material on their hands.
So taking into account all the above the short and simple formula is as follows: 1 ft² - 0.5 lbs.
Explaining the formula, it means that for every 1 ft² of blanket you need 0.5 lbs of wool.
We know that calculating sometimes can be hard, so feel free to use this cheat sheet which will tell you how much yarn you need for each specific size of the blanket.
Choosing the right size blanket
If you haven't already decided on the blanket size you want to have, then get some inspiration in this blog post on a topic Which size blanket to choose?
It'll guide you through a range of different size blankets, starting from smaller throw blankets to large blankets and even the biggest Queen size and King size blankets.

]]>The cold weather is here and so many of us would love to spend the evenings snuggled in a warm and cozy chunky knit blanket. In this wide assortment of chunky knit products, it can be quite a challenge to choose the right one. From wool to acryl, and from lower price blankets to more pricier ones. Why choose Wool Art products and what are the exceptional qualities of our knits? We will try to answer these questions.
We use the highest quality merino wool
Wool Art chunky knits are made from the highest quality superfine merino wool. Merino is very lightweight to its thickness but super warm. Merino regulates body temperature really well and is just as good for summertime heat as it is for winter. Merino is also famous for its softness, strength, breathability and many more benefits. You can read more about merino wool qualities in our blog about “Why choose merino wool?”.
You have probably noticed that there are also some quite cheap options for chunky knits. These blankets are made from lower quality merino wool or acrylic material.
Low-quality merino wool is hard to touch and sheds more than higher quality material. It also often has dirt in it and is not safe for people with allergies, while merino wool is hypoallergenic fiber and perfect for people with sensitive skin.
Acrylic material is heavier, and it doesn't give warmth. It's also very easy to damage as it's a synthetic fiber and is not heat-resistant as it is with merino wool.
Acrylic also itself looks synthetic and doesn't have this special charm as merino wool does.
We use certified wool
Wool Art wool is organically certified - all products are knitted only from the highest quality 100% merino wool, which is completely clean and pure, it has high-quality production standards, it's free from harsh chemicals and it's anti-allergic. We believe in fair, ethical and eco-sustainable business which doesn’t do harm for both - people and nature. All sheep from which the wool is obtained, live in good conditions and are treated well. The wool we use has the following certificates.
Oeko-Tex certification
Oeko-Tex certification confirms the human-ecological safety of textile products. Products that have obtained this certification are absent of allergenic dyes, pesticides, chlorinated phenols, heavy metals, formaldehyde, chloro-organic carriers, and have a pH that’s not unkind to the skin.
No Mulesing
Mulesing is a practice commonly used in Australia which consists of removing a strip of live flesh from the perianal area of the sheep, without the use of any anesthesia or antibiotics. This procedure can be very dangerous as well as very painful for the animal and can lead to death. No mulesing means that sheep are happy and healthy.
We use soft merino wool
Wool Art products are soft and gentle to the touch. The merino sheep that produce this gentle wool have been specially cared for and bred to produce wool with a thinner diameter. Fine wool is distinguished among merino wool for having a defined stylish crimp and bright color.
Our product shedding is reduced to a minimum
Shedding is a natural process of pure merino wool at the beginning. However, as we use high-quality wool material, then shedding stops after some time the blanket is used. For lower quality knits the shedding does not stop, because for lower price products, harder and thicker hair wool type is used, and it breaks a lot and shedding doesn’t stop.
Our products do not hurt the environment
Unlike synthetic fibers, merino fiber will naturally decompose when it is disposed of. It takes only nine months for merino wool products to biodegrade when buried in the soil. If you choose a cheaper alternative - acrylic blankets, know that it will leave a bad ecological footprint when it's thrown out.
Our products are handmade
Every Wool Art item is handmade in our own studio with the most precious care. We have a team of experienced knitters who make sure that every item is made.

]]>Our chunky knit products are made from the highest quality superfine merino wool. It is known for its softness and warmth, however, there are much more than that. Why choose merino wool and what are the exceptional qualities of it? We will try to answer these questions.
Merino is wool is a natural fiber that comes specifically from merino sheep. Merino sheep breed came originally from Spain. Nowadays Australia produces 80% of the world’s merino wool. New Zealand is also known for its quality merino wool. Merino sheep can be found also in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and South Africa.
Merino sheep are known by their wrinkled skins and fleeces, and large curly horns. They used to grow in extreme weather conditions – freezing winters and hot summers. Other sheep breeds wouldn’t survive such weather. Therefore, merino sheep have developed a high-quality wool coat to protect them from such an extreme climate. Merino wool has huge amounts of insulation and warmth at low weights.
Once a year merino sheep gets a haircut. It’s needed to stop the wool from growing and prevent sheep from suffering too much heat and other health-related issues. It is important that during the shearing, the sheep are calm and do not resist. However, there is a number of issues with the unethical approach to cutting. We would suggest choosing merino products that are made respecting ethical standards and cut with animal and environmentally friendly approaches. To be sure, it’s better to choose a certified merino wool. All Wool Art products are made from organic certified merino wool.
A quality merino sheep can produce up to 18kg of wool each year. Wool that is famous for its softness, strength, breathability and many more benefits.
Merino will keep you exceptionally warm
One of the main reasons why merino wool is so loved is its warmth relative to weight. It’s very lightweight but will keep you warm regardless of the weather. That is because merino wool traps heat very efficiently between the fibers. Air cannot circulate and retain the heat from your body which allows you to keep warm.
However, since merino regulates body temperature really well, it’s just as good for summertime heat as it is for winter.
Merino is comfortable
Merino wool fibers are finer and have smaller scales comparing to other wool. That is why fine merino feels so heavenly soft, silky and smooth. It’s superb to the touch and so lightweight. Unlike other wool, the superfine merino is not itchy at all, even for the most sensitive skin.
Merino is super breathable
Merino wool breathes and manages moisture better than any other fiber. The more breathable a fabric is the better it retains the moisture. Merino is famous for having high levels of moisture absorbance because of its ability to retain a lot of liquid relative to its weight. A Merino fiber can absorb and retain up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and still feel dry to the touch. It means that even if wet, merino maintains its ability to insulate, and will keep you dry, warm and cozy.
Merino is strong
Wool fibers have the ability to be bent, flexed and stretched in any direction about 30,000 times without any damage. It means that merino wool is nine times stronger than cotton, which breaks after 3200 times. Merino wool fibers are made mostly of protein molecules known as keratin, which is the same protein present in our own skin and hair!
Merino is odor resistant
Unlike synthetic fibers, merino wool naturally resists odor-causing bacteria. Because of merino wool’s ability to effectively manage moisture, odor-causing bacteria don’t have the moist environment they need to survive. That ensures that the wool products remain odor-free. Therefore, no matter how hot it is, with merino, you’ll be fresh all day long.
Merino is easy to take care of
Merino wool is anti-bacterial so it doesn’t require any special care, it cleans itself. You can just hang your merino wool products in an open-air for a short time to freshen them. The naturally protective outer layer of merino wool prevents stains from being absorbed.
While some of the merino products are machine-washable, they are mostly advised to be hand washed or dry cleaned.
As merino wool is heat-resistant, then it’s possible to iron the products at a high temperature if needed.
Quick Drying
Merino wool naturally dries quickly. Merino wool products will be dry long before your other garments are. Dry them flat or place on a hanger and they will be dry into time!
Merino is wrinkle-resistant
The elastic properties of the merino fiber make it extremely wrinkle resistant. You don’t need to worry about ironing because merino products will look great no matter what.
Merino wool is non-allergenic
Merino wool is hypoallergenic fiber. It’s perfect if you have sensitive skin. It’s so soft that it is suitable for those that would normally suffer from allergic reactions. Products, which are made from organic certified merino wool, are the best option for kids, pets and allergic people.
Merino wool is biodegradable
The merino fiber will naturally decompose in soil when it is disposed of. It takes only nine months for merino wool products to biodegrade when buried in the soil. It will give back its nutrients to the earth.
Merino wool is UV resistant
Merino wool naturally protects against the sun’s harmful rays. Unlike synthetics or cotton, merino products will keep you safe from damaging UV radiation from the sun.
Wool Art chunky knit products are made from superfine merino wool in the highest quality. Because of its superior quality and craftsmanship, each product is very special.
